hard time deciding...

Have to choose a new work phone but I have a hard time deciding ... Friend's Galaxy S5 and 8200 mah battery seems awesome so Apple and Microsoft are not up to my mind. Since the new phone is supposed to live with me for like 2 years, so..what's the average life span of Samsung phone?

Anyone have opinions? Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy S5?

Galaxy Note 4, easy choice for me.

Samsung phones are supported for at least two years, after that attention shifts to newer devices but they may still update them.

Otherwise they last well, they always use the best available hardware so they age fairly well most of the time. Being able to change battery is a large benefit here as they tend to degrade a lot over time. Also I've never had a fault with any Samsung devices I've used.

I still have an old i8910 that was released back in 2009 and it still works fine.

After nearly a full year of excellent performance, reliability, speed and great battery life from my Note 3, I'd highly suggest a Note 4. It's been 100% trouble free which is by itself quite impressive.

I have a 5S, it's very nice but not as exceptional as the Note 3.
