Root Has anyone have 4g issues?

Kay so i bought the warp 4g to replace my tired sequent. I didnt expect to get 4g where i live
Because i live in a small town. Well sprint and boost just updated the coverage map on jan22
And it clearly shows that im in the middle of 4g service.
I get excellant 3g because i live next to the tower (2.7 mbps average) so it doesnt bother me as much as it should.

But i do not get 4g down here. No matter when and no matter where. (I was on a mission to find it) i know it wasnt my phone because i get 4g in tallahassee.

So it leaves me to believe that either theyre about to come out with it and got eager with the maps. Or theyre flat out lying.

I talked to customer service and they were no help. All they could think of was updating my profile. And made it seem like i had no idea i was just a dumb customer. Kinda pissed me off actually.

Anyone have similar problems with 4g?

If you're getting 2.7 Mb/s for DL then you ARE getting 4G cuz 3G is only 300kb/s... You can always switch to CDMA only (3G) in settings to double check the speed differences...

I can get 1.5 on 3g in my area on a good day. I don't have a 4g phone so I know it is 3g.

The coverage maps are not accurate by any means. I've learned this the hard way. According to Sprint/Boost, I have 4G in NYC. LOL It is so spotty that it is non existent most of the time.

There is a website called Sensorly, which tracks actual users and their network strength. It will tell you your 3G and 4G coverage to the block, just zoom in. This is how I learned my 4G didn't really exist although Sprint claimed it did.

Coverage Map for Sprint 4G USA - Sensorly - Unbiased Wireless Network Information, from people just like you

sprint claims 3g speeds up to 3.1mbps so i can imagine boost is somewhere around that if your lucky. the warp 4g has way better 3g than than the sequent. i was only getting like 2.3-2.4 out here. but i switched to evdo only and cdma only mode using an app called 4g switcher and speed test were the same. lte was non existant.
im gonna check that website out. thanks Xman
and im gonna call them back and call them out on it. mayne i can get something for free idk lol

You won't get anything for free from Boost lol

lol i know but its worth a try. maybe theyre giving out teddy bears and lollipops now for unhappy customers

I got an email on Dec 31st saying my data was throttled until January 31st I hadn't even paid my bill yet lol
I waited a couple days and was indeed throttled. I called Boost and spent 2 days being called a liar (on 3 occasions), I was called a trouble maker, and lied to over and over again. Finally they admitted that I was throttled and fixed the problem.

At the end they told me that they were sorry about all the trouble but they could not do anything else for me. They wouldn't give me a credit.

i just got an email saying that my area does not have 4g. so they lied when they made the coverage map. they said itll be next year untill 4g comes to my area. but ive been dealing with boost for like 4 years now. lol you just got to treat them like children. the whole customer service department is in india. if they act annoyed just raise your voice and say derka derka...theyll know..lol

Derka derka lmao!! I as well have no 4g, worked amazing at first but then dissapeared. And 3mbps is great for 3g, i experience the usual 300/ max sometimes 500kbps.

i think its because the tower i live next to is relatively new and almost no one has sprint or boost out here. but 12pm it can be like 2mbps and 12am it can go all the way up to 2.7 for me. i never use data during the day anyway cuz im always busy. but when i was in tallahassee today i got almost 32mbps on 4g. which was crazy. but idont like it yet because its not consistent. most of the 4g test i did in full reception ranged from 7-32.

3mbps is roughly 300kb/s
so those were 3g speeds

conversion is meant to confuse, but aside from that you seem to be right in the dead zone, go a mile in any direction youll get 4g but where you are youll never get it unless they put up another tower, the antenna on a zte is gonna be weak sorry, but you are right on the edge of a dead zone anyway so who knows if any phone would get a reliable signal

well its not only that but my towns kinda isolated. tallahassee is 20miles north and theres 4g there but the map is specifically for my town. maybe like 1/3 of it shows 4g. but there is without a doubt no 4g lol and yeah conversions are stupid it should all be one measurement.
3mbps is 3000kbps or -+300kBps. im not sure how many kBps tho
my ookla speed test doesnt do kbps anymore just kBps
unless im confused about it lol
stupid bits and bytes

well whatever was giving you 2mb on 3g and 32mb on 4g is bits
basically divide it by 10 to get a rough estimate of your actuql download speeds

the coverage map tho is only a rough estimate based on the best possible conditions, that phone wont get coverage on the edge of the lte area, and chances are no phone actually will get good enough signal to connect

make sure your sim card is installed correctly and its not damage. the sim card is required to have 4g connection and if your removed the sim card, youll only would connect to 3g networks only .. my zte warp 4g connects in the lte 13 around 700mhz plus range?? which is a Verizon tower i think??? and Verizon 4g haves the best 4g coverage. is anyone else on lte 13??

update: since you're are getting 4g outside your location is there any ##data# settings that can be edited that could help you out??? or maybe using the network app from google play and set it to global mode might help??? just curious...

Its got to be the towers mixed with the antenna, in some parts of town i can get it. Others 3g even crawls

yea its not the sim kuz it works other places, the problem is signal, interference, blocked line of sight, signal maps based on either super strong testing equipment or just math equasionsand tower locations with no real testing, things of that nature

im not mad. the warp4g is an awesome phone.
it gets 10x better reception than the sequent imo cause it operates on more than one 3g frequency
i got it for free by breaking my sequent and using the geek squad insurance from bestbuy to trade it in full value for a newer phone.
lol made sure they couldnt check for root by only breaking the micro usb port lol

now if only i got 4g... then i can devise a way to get past data throttling so i can stop paying $70 a month for internet.. 8(
