Has anyone used CyanogenMod Installer on a GS5?

I have an unrooted (Verizon) Samsung Galaxy S5. I'm not a fan of stock Lollipop, so I'm looking for the best way to get into CyanogenMod. I tried their easy online installer, but it said my device wasn't supported. There was a button to proceed anyway, but I thought it best to do a little research first.

Apparently, there are only nightly builds available for the GS5, not stable/RC/milestone. Is that what the installer will put on my device if I continue past the unsupported warning? Has anyone used the installer in order to install CM on their GS5, and have there been any problems?

Outside of this, it seems the best method is rather laborious - downgrade to KitKat 4.4.2, then root, then install manually. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

ironass, I've been reading a lot of your stuff lately - thanks for all of the guides! :)

So, is there any possible way to get CM on this device?

It seems to me that if I want to get away from stock Lollipop on the GS5, the best option is to follow your downgrade guide (http://androidforums.com/threads/verizon-downgrade-to-kitkat-dummies-guide.902737/) and go to 4.4.x, right? Also, if I wanted to root, would I need to go clear back to 4.4.2 and then use Towelroot, or is the locked bootloader preventing that, too?

Don't believe everything you read.... especially when I've been drinking! ;)

No

I would recommend going right back to root with TowelRoot.

LOL Even then, you know way more about this stuff than I do...!

So, do you have any thoughts on this link: http://www.droidviews.com/install-l...sm-g900v-keep-root-and-enable-wifi-tethering/

It's very tempting, but that's about the only place I've read where Lollipop is rooted so I'm hesitant to download those packages. Unfortunately, I only have the one phone so I can't afford to get it wrong and brick the thing. So, I guess that brings us back to the 4.4.2 with Towelroot. After that I should be able to remove bloatware, add wifi hot spot, and so on, correct?

That should be fine on the OC4 release but whether it would be OK on the latest Verizon Lollipop update, OD5, I cannot say.

Conventional wisdom is to downgrade to Android 4.4.2 and root and then upgrade using the various guides to keep root on your phone. Then you can start de-bloating as the bloatware on later Verizon firmware versions differs from the earlier ones.
