I have seen all the buzz but I'm a bit confused on who has Gingerbread and how they got it. Does anyone have the answers?

Has Gingerbread been released for non-rooted androids?

yes the nexus s and the nexus one both had non rooted gingerbread i believe

For right now the developer phones (nexus one/ nexus s) will be the ones that get it. I don't think the nexus one even has it yet.
As far as stock phones go it will be a bit. The phone manufacturers need to build their custom skins for the new Android version. HTC is pretty good about delivering updates in a timely manner so you'll be fine. I'm looking forward to what the dev community does with Gingerbread and will be putting it on my phone.

Well for one you'll see it in the forums and there will probably be an article on phandroid when HTC and Tmo confirm the OTA for gingerbread. Just hang tight.
