"Don't be evil." There was a time when Google could do no wrong, but fast forward to today and a growing amount of consumers don't believe that famous slogan to be true anymore. What changed?

A small company is a bunch of users - and they want what most users want. Integer BASIC for the Apple was great, Windows, with an update needed every few minutes, forgot where it came from. I think Google is forgetting its roots too.

Google aren't a startup any more. They are a huge corporation, whose primary business is collecting data about you and using it to make money, and they are much harder to avoid than others in that line. Their attitude to anyone else, from customers to national regulators, is "we're right and we don't care what you say". It would be surprising if there wasn't some push back really.

"Don't be arrogant" would be a good motto for them to consider if they really want to maintain trust.
