Have both Swipe and Pattern to Unlock - cant' remove swipe

I can set the lock screen to none and I get no lock screen.

I can set it to Swipe and get a Swipe screen.

But if I set it to Pattern I get the Swipe screen first followed by the Pattern screen.

I've tried to set it to none, then restart, then set Pattern but the Swipe screen gets re-enabled.

Any advice on how to get just the Pattern screen as my one-and-only lock screen?

My previous Galaxy devices all behaved as expected - i.e. the single lock screen contained the Pattern challenge.

that is how it works on my z fold 3....you have to swipe first then either enter your pattern. but i use the fingerprint reader which you do not have to swipe first. just use the reader to unlock the phone.

so you will either have to get used to swiping first or try the fingerprint reader or get a new phone....LOL
