Have our cell phones turned Science Fiction into Reality???

We have all seen the movies and cartoons (such as The Jetson's, etc.) where in they portray that in the future we will all have some form of personal robot (aka Droid....aka Andriod) to help us, guide us, assist us, answer questions / provide information for us, etc., etc.

So what do you think? Do you think that these 'Super Phones', Smart Phones, PDA's, et. al. have become, or at least are quickly becoming, our personal service / assistant 'Robots'????

Our smartphones are more advanced than what they imagined back in the 60's. At least my phone is. ;)

The GPS capabilities feel like the most sci-fi-ish ability that I have on my phone. I recall watching a sci-fi show where someone had a hand-held scanner that shows the layout of the surrounding area. Although, it didn't need a bunch of orbitting satellites, the functionality of the sci-fi scanner resembles the smartphone mapping app.

As for the latests hi-tech phones out there today, they still do not have capabilities worthy of being called a "superphone" like these: List of Doctor Who items - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some things which where Sci-Fi only 20-25 years ago, are now reality.

In the 1987 movie Robocop, OCP had a handheld device which could track Robocop down to address and street level. That Sci-Fi of 1987 is now reality with our Android phones and Google Latitude.

SCI-FI has been turning reality for quite some time...

For instance.. the flip phone was thought of in the 70s...
