Have to restart to reconnect to cell service

Occasionally when in an area with a weak cell signal (like a basement), I lose connection altogether ("no service") but when I return to an area with a decent signal, the phone doesn't reconnect automatically -- I have to restart it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you tried Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network operators to see if it finds your Network?

Network operators is grayed out on my phone.

Is Flight Mode switched off? Is your SIM card clean? SIM card fully inserted and locked in place?
