Help having issue with mic...

my sis just go the EPIC...

she tells me that the mic is having issues...
when calling someone... they can barely hear her.. unless she turns on the speakerphone.

when using the voice cammands.. it is not registering well.

tried Vlingo... and it was messing up all the words... and only hearing half.

question:
is this a setting issue?
or hardware?

I had a similar problem with my S8 after working fine for three years. I took my phone in for a replacement but the replacement microphone functioned just as poorly as the original. What seemed to be a hardware problem must have been software related. I upgraded phones and moved on from the problem but in retrospect a factory reset would have likely fixed my microphone problem. Having no new installs or upgrades I had no good guess as to the culprit.

Make certain the microphone port is clear of debris or pocket lint. Did the problem arise after an update or install?
 

Try to do what this guy is going..while you are dragging the needle around the mic..add some alcohol..this will fix your problem
 
Yes, that's very important..what I forgot to add is..you don't poke the mic..you rather scratch it very carefully with it
