having problems with updating 2.1 using XP?

If you are having problems updating your X10i using windows XP, you need to complete the update using "safe mode". You can do this by restarting your pc and holding down "f8" after that choose safe mode with networking. Your pc will load up in safe mode, double click on sonyericsson pc companion and follow the promps. This should resolve the SMEC DRIVER issue good luck.
