Help hboot factory reset failure HTC one x

Hi everyone,
It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me. I brought a HTC ONE X from a friend and it had worked without a hucup for several months but......... Today after my phone froze i held the power button down for a few seconds and it switched off. when i tried to turn the power on again it got stuck in a loop. I pressed and held the volume down and the power button to recover but nothing works it begins to reboot and then i get a black screen with a symbol of a red triangle with an upside down exclamation mark in it hovering over a phone.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

That's recovery mode. You then need some button combination to get the menu, which I'm not certain of as I always have a custom recovery. Try volume up + power I think.

Thanks Hadron, unfortunately I haven't made myself clear. I have managed to get to that menu but no options work. I get a black screen with a symbol of a red triangle with an upside down exclamation mark in it hovering over a phone.
