Help HDMI and ICS

I connect my Maxx to my TV with an HDMI cable in mirror mode. On GB, If I rotated the phone, the image on the TV rotated. Now, it fixed in "landscape" mode and I cannot figure out any way to remedy this (auto rotate is on). Even the homescreen is in landscape and it is not as easy to use like this. Some apps (like an equalizer app I use) do not even display properly...the top is cut off because the program assumes the phone is in the vertical orientation.

Any ideas?

Have you tried turning off auto rotate? I know its no help but wonder if its Motorola's way of trying to get people to buy HD Dock or Stations and using the Web Top setup even though to me the new 3.0 sucks compared to the previous version.
