Help HDMI Cable

Lurker
I have a Galaxy S2 On Tmobile. I recently purchased a cable that is micro usb to HDMI, however when I connect to my TV it will not display anything . Does anyone know if there is something special I need to do on my TV or phone to make it work? Do I need a different type of cable other than a stardard one?

The T-Mobile SGS2 has only two places to plug things in: A micro USB jack and a headphone jack. If you're going to get HDMI out of the phone it has to come out one of those jacks.

HDMI cables allows to get both video and audio to an HDTV without the need to use multiple cables. When you use the HDMI capacities in your TV, it lets you maximize the quality of the picture.
HDMI is best, followed by red, green, blue cables, S-video, RCA, and coaxial. You will have to spend a little extra to get the right cables for your new equipment, but the difference it makes is worth every penny.

Cheap HDMI Cable

the s2 has mhl, you need the samsung mhl adapter. The only place I was able to find one locally waas tigerdirect. Best buy didnt have it, radio shack had the htc one (wont work on samsung, but the samsung one willl work on the htc amaze)

I can't find a way to have audio out through 3.5mm jack while using the MHL to HDMI adapter. Is there any way around this?

I've used the same one that I brought from Tmobile for my sensation and it worked perfectly. You do know that you have to also plug a charger into the mhl adapter plus it might have to be OEM on the charger

So are you saying that the 3.5mm audio jack plays sound when you have the MHL to HDMI adapter in? or are you saying HDMI audio works fine for you?

The Samsung MHL adapter from Amazon works on my T-Mobile GSII, I bought a slightly cheaper adapter that did not work and then fell apart. I returned it for credit and got the Samsung one. It works, but I was disappointed with the picture quality when streaming Netflix. You do need the original charger attached for it to work and follow the instructions that comes with it.

I've been lookin into getting these and some advertise they only do 720p and some can do 1080p so id consider getting a more brandname one that says it outputs 1080p

Is anyone else suffering loss of wifi when connecting the hdmi? I have the official Samsung adaptor and generic 'el-cheapo' hdmi cable and the wifi cuts off as soon as i plug it in. When i take the hdmi out the wifi immediately connects again. Data network is fine and can browse using that, but really wanted wifi so can stream tv.

I googled around and lots of people have this issue but yet to find a solution. Would be very grateful if there's a fix out there :adore:

Cheers!

Some TV's it will work and other it will not.

I just recently got a generic MHL cable for my Galaxy SII and plugged it into my Sony Plasma screen TV (more than a few years old at this point)--nothing, I get a quick flash and it says 480p in the upper corner but I can get no picture and I tried all of the usual solutions, restarting, plugging them in in a different order--nothing.
I was about to return the cable thinking it was junk, but I decided to try it on another TV.
I plugged it into my LG plasma screen (less than 2 years old) and immediately got an image.
It would appear that certain older TVs just don't work with the adapter.

Before returning them, try it on a different TV...remember this is a relatively new 'standard' and they (Samsung) may not have all the kink worked out yet.
