HDMI quality

I must admit that the HDMI out quality is not real good for watching videos from the web (streaming). There is a lot of pix-elation and the sound will pop frequently.

Has anyone tried this yet? I am using the cable from VZW.

Is there a fix or modification that can be done to improve it?

I have the same question. Looking at some pictures from my phone on a 26 inch monitor, they were pretty bad.
 
I have begun to experiment with the Webtop application and it actually works pretty well. I found I could stream videos from various sources and the sound was good and the video quality was not bad. I haven't had enough time to check out if the video quality is dependent on the format of the video or something else.

All in all, if you include the ability to due Citrix and other web related tools, the Webtop application has some real potential. As I begin to use it more, I will post my results.

Besides my limited time to test the app, it is hard to get the Razr accessories for the Webtop, like the new bluetooth keyboard and remote control device. I have tried the HD dock and have ordered the small remote webtop adapter from Amazon (should have it here later this week) and will continue working with it.

However, the straight HDMI output is not good at this time, at least in my testing.

For folks complaining the HDMI quality is not very good I think there's something that you folks need to understand:

HDMI mirroring is going to mirror your phone's display resolution (qHD) upscaled to your TV/Monitor's resolution. If you want to drive your TV/Monitor at it's resolution then you need to use the Webtop adapter or one of the docks.

I agree with the resolution issue and have confirmed by using the Webtop application. However, I got popping on the audio when using the HDMI mirroring. Maybe it is a setting that I need to adjust and will just need more time to figure it out. I will also try plugging it in through my audio system which supports HDMI pass through. I am new to using HDMI out on this device and will be learning more over the next few weeks.

I am using the HD dock and webtop
 
What is the WebTop adaptor you guys are using i cannot seem to find it.

I am having the same problem while streaming Netflix off my phone to my TV

If you a search on Amazon for Motorola Travel Adapter for Webtop you should find it. I paid $30 for mine.
 
Today I was able to give both HDMI direct and Webtop a more thorough review and I must say I am very impressed.

First, I jumped the gun on the HDMI direct connect (mirror mode). It turns out that Netflix and Youtube work very well. Both the video and sound were good on my TV and the video was very good on my computer monitor (no speakers for the sound). The issue with videos and sound appears to be related to Flash. I have a business site I use frequently that has a Flash player to view the videos. When using it on HDMI direct, the video is not good (okay at best) and the sound pops randomly. However Netflix (which uses Silverlight) works well and Youtube works well too.

Second, the Webtop application using the Motorola Travel Adapter was excellent. I am most excited about the business applications, like Citrix, which works without a hitch. It loaded up the Citrix sites I need access to. Since it is using Firefox for the web portion, it feels like you are on a desktop. Using the phone as a mouse and keyboard gets old pretty fast, so tomorrow I am going to go by Best Buy and pick up a small portable bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The Webtop help documentation said it would support most keyboard and mouse combinations. I will report back.

It is simply amazing to imagine being able to use my phone as laptop replacement as long as I have access to a monitor or TV. :cool:
 
I purchased a Targus bluetooth keyboard today and it connected to my phone and it works fine in all of the apps, including Webtop.

The issue is that when it is connected, Webtop will randomly abort and re-start. If I turn off bluetooth, it does not do this.

Is anyone familiar with this issue? What keyboards are people using?
