What is the output capability of the hdmi port on the Droid X?

Besides the gallery, do apps like Hulu and Netflix work through it? What about other apps that are non-video?

only certain avi movies will play through the gallery.
to output what your screen is displaying, you need either realhdmi or Xternal Display for Droid X
when you use these apps, the dx's screen will be frozen. also, the videos will look crappy since the outputted video is the dx's resolution and NOT 720p

Yeah it's pretty worthless. Can't view netflix or even video I shot with the DX (it disconnects the hdmi output and plays back on the phone). Don't waste $ on realhdmi or similar.

i actually enjoy it. i playback movies on the tv and fire up an emulator and wiimote to play NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games on a big screen with a wireless controller. it makes it into a portable media center.
