head set not working

I have the Samsung galaxy s3 and whenever I plug in a headset to talk one the phone it wont work. the others can hear me but I don't hear anything. its a straight talk.
 
Sounds like a bad headset or a bad headset hack. The first one is easy enough to diagnose - try a different headset. The second will take shop and some bench time to determine.
