Help Headphone icon will not go away

Hi I am new here so just wanted to say what's up before asking about my issue.

Anyway I am having an issue where my headphone icon on the phone stays there even if I unplug the headphone from the jack. I had this issue before and was able to fix it my putting the phone in and out of the jack until it went back to normal. This time it wouldn't get fixed no matter what I do. I can't use the phone mix while this happens and its sort of a drag using a headphone mix all the time. Anybody know a way to fix this?

Yea several times...now the icon just comes and goes randomly. Sometimes I can use the phone normally and sometimes i have no choice but to use a headphone with a mic. I use my phone for my alarm so I am not sure if it will work tomorrow morning when I need to wake up early.Time to invest in an alarm clock.

Ok it's fixed now I used a different pair of headphones and it fixed it after I took it out seems to work perfect now. Still have no idea why that happened but yea its resolved lol.

I'd keep my eye on the problem- sounds like there could be a short developing in the headphone jack. If it starts doing it again, you might need to exchange the phone with VM since this would be a hardware problem. Hopefully it behaves from now on & isn't a problem.
