headphone jack

[Android Question]

so the headphone jack on my LG Optimus Showtime suddenly stopped playing music. I can hear my ringtones, notification sounds, button clicks, etc. through my speakers and headphones, but when I try to play music it doesn't work. Could you tell me a reason this happened and if there is a solution? or am I going to have to buy a new $200 phone?

I would try using a different music player to determine if the problem is restricted to a certain app
