Headphone mic support?

So does the Nexus one have the ability to use a microphone that is built-in to wired headphones? I have tried, and don't think it has ever worked... So, I am starting to believe that the N1 doesn't support it?

Am I missing something here???

Thanks!

from what i noticed ,there is a change of polarity between the bass part of the jack and the trebble ...not sure cause i didn't disect my headphones yet.

I have a pair of Scosche IDR655m headphones made for the iPhone and the mic works perfectly. I can even pause and skip tracks by clicking the center button once for pause and twice for track skip. Sadly, the volume buttons on the headphones don't work on my Nexus One.

Same, I know it's an app that's causing it but can't figure which one and I'm too lazy to do a factory reset and 'test' each app...

...uhm ..I really don't think it's any app that's doing this ,it's the headphones themself that are not compatible with the phone [ex. : not all headphones work on Nokia -> china-town ones are incompatible -> work partially (only audio with no functioning keys or distorted audio) or not at all (when plugged in ,there's no headset icon)].

I tried 8-9 headphones ,and none work like the original [as in flawless] ...too bad the audio quality sucks ,but I think i'm going to tear them up and replace the speakers ..SE rules at headphones ,at least for the reasonable priced ones.

From what i've figured from nokaia's "un-written manual" i realised that the freakin' chip inside has somethin' to do with that.

-> hope it helps any of you.

OPPS :o I missed the first part. I thought Nunya was talking about the OEM earphones that came with the Nexus One XD Cause that's what happened to mine :<

Only headphones I've tried with the Nexus is the iPod's standard one. Anyways, the fact that the buttons on other headphones don't work sucks :/

I use the Altec Lansing Backbeat, it's a bluetooth headset but it works well as headphones and for calls.
