Help Headphone muting not working in call

I have a Galaxy S3 with Jelly Bean .. very pleased with it ... except ... I use Sure 215 in-line microphone headphones which work fine for calls and music. However, when in a call if I press the single button on the headphones then this ends the call. I have tried numerous apps to try and control this - Jays, Klipsch, and others. The issue is that when I press the button on the headphones the signal does not get through to the "app". (found this out using a feature on one of the apps Headset Monitor). It is obviously being controlled by something else that ends the call. As well as when using the press and hold function this just starts Google Voice.

Tried to find a setting for this but can not see anything anywhere.
