Help Headphones not recognized after marshmallow update

I am using Factory provided headphones that I have used since I got the phone. After the marshmallow update along with many other issues I am now unable to use my headphones. The little headphone icon no longer pops up when I plug the headphones in. However if I have them plugged into mic does still work. I have tried this on several apps and it is all the same. The headphones to work on other devices. Any assistance?

I have the exact same issue. I found a temporary workaround with an app called SoundAbout that can force the phone to play sounds through headphones, however that feels a bit annoying in the long-run...

This happened to me as well. I have to keep unplugging and replugging and twisting and adjusting the headphone plug until I get sound. Even then, I get that tunnel effect like a voice cancelling feature where you can hear some of the music, but not the mono vocals. More adjustment of the plug can get the full sound to come out, but I don't remember this happening before.

I tried wiping the cache which has been suggested in other places, but that didn't work. The Soundabout app allows me to keep the sound playing while I adjust the cable, but it's still a problem with the jack or the software. I'm using the stock headphones with a 3-pin plug.

This must be a huge problem with Marshmallow. I JUST received this update with my ATT GN4 and I have the SAME freaking problem. This is ridiculous. I use my wired headset all of the time. This is a major PIA.

Nothing posted since June, so possibly HTC fixed whatever they broke with the original update. I'd suggest it's not a general problem with Marshmallow, more like HTC caused it in this particular phone.

I switched to a Bluetooth adapter.

My guess is that they modified the power of the plug causing the issue. Does anyone know if it's possible to modify it through a rooted phone?

OMFG! Since HTC isn't selling these anymore they should just strip the phone stuff off and sell it as a music and app player with 2 microSD card slots instead of a Sim card. I'd forgotten how good this sounds.

I have the same problem with a update Marshmallow to my Moto G 3rd. Do you have any troubleshoot?
