Weird, but, I always presumed that an iPhone 4\4s headphone would work with my Samsung Galaxy S3 for calls.

Does it work for you?

Didn't work for me, I thought the same as you though. The good news is the headphones that came with my GS3 do work for phone calls though, and they don't fall out of your ears.

I got hoodwinked... Bought my S3 on Veterans Day and until now I didn't need the headset (lost my BT) and behold! No headphones in the box. Grrrr...

Calls to T-Mobile point me to Samsung. Calls to Samsung point me to call T-Mobile again. Just going to have to swallow my pride and look around for a OEM Samsung headset. I've already heard of knock-offs floating around that are good looking KIRF's, but I find it disappointing that I can't use the Apple Ear Pods.

Those sound freaking amazing for $30

Surely the earphones will work? But there is a fundamental hardware incompatibility between Apple and Android when it comes to the earphone controls. I don't believe there is any way to get the volume controls to work, but there are various headphone controller apps in the Play store which will enable the phone to recognise different tap patterns of the earphones' in-line centre button. There are also some third-party Android-compatible earphones to be found on Amazon etc., which do have full three button functionality.

john_g, I merely wanted to use it for a long phone call I was going to have. And was miffed to realize that it wouldn't recognize it for calls.

Anyway, I opened my Samsung Galaxy S3 headphones and they work just fine.

Basic things such as listening to music work fine using the Apple Ear Pods with the GS3, the mic emits a loud buzz when trying to use in a call or voice memo.

I have tried various apps on Google Play but the media player app on the GS3 intercepts commands before the headphone app does. Rather annoying I say.

Any Apple headset with the volume rocker has shown hardware problems with my GS3 so I'm still trying to find a genuine original headset or may end up just using the headset that came with my old BlackBerry.

I mainly like the look of a white phone with color matched accessories, at this point though, I just have to use what "works" :smokingsomb:
