Headset switch doesn't work when screen locked

MaxxKevo

Lurker
I found a setting to allow bluetooth headsets to unlock and function, but not wired headsets. I've done this with old media phones, Blackberries, iPhones and other Droids - I have to be missing something here..

I don't want to have to download 3 programs that need to work together in order to do something simple..

Thanks!

It would be NICE if it were built into the OS, but it isn't. So you need to download two programs - and run them again if you reboot, I think. They are:

Headset Button Controller
Holo Locker

On the Razr Maxx, it doesn't "see" the headset button press when the screen is dark. Holo Locker turns on the screen when you press the headset button, which lets Headset Button Controller receive the press and pass it on to the active music app.

After that it doesn't time out like a regular lock screen, in a few seconds. It times out like an application, according to your settings > display > timeout. So you may want to lower it to spare your battery.

Google should be ASHAMED of themselves for not building this in and for making it so hard to workaround. But at least there's a way for me to skip songs without pulling out my phone.
