heating up...

I have notice that when using my droid that the top part, right above the battery gets fairly hot. Does these happen to other people or did I get a bad?

if you look at this image of the droid teardown you can see the area you are describing is near the heatsink for the processors.

It's supposed to get hot to keep the chips cool when you use programs that place a high demand on the cpu

Mine does the same but that's no different than any phone when there is demand on the processor or current hitting the battery. Both tasks require a great deal of heat to dissipated. I wouldn't be concerned.
