It is normal for a handset device to become warm while being used for games or applications that use the processor heavily. The phones dissipate head through the body of the phone. If the phone becomes too hot you will receive a warning. Overheating should never happen unless there are special circumstances like leaving your phone in a hot car or outside sitting in the sun, you are playing graphic intensive games while charging the device, or utilizing GPS while charging, and having the phone in the sun. If you get a notice under normal operations I would definitely recommend returning the phone.
