HELLLLP, Very unique contact problem!

first off, Hello world!

now abit of backgroud.
I work in a phone retail store, had a customer come in with a very unique problem.

he has 3 phones, 1 iphone and 2 androids. (1A and 2A for ref)
now the 1A and iphone have VERY similar numbers e.g 0271234567 and 0221234567
only the starting sufix is different.
now its say the 027 is Nick and the 022 is andrew.
both the contacts are on the 2A phone as said.
but when you phone that phone with the 1A or iphone it comes up as which ever contact was entered first on A2.

e.g you enter nicks name into contacts and save it then andrews. when phoned it appears as Nick no matter what one is phoning it.

any ideas how to fix thi issue so that when phoned it appears as the correct contact on the caller id???

I'm afraid it may be very tricky. It sounds like the caller ID is only checking the last 6 or 7 digits, which is actually the way most phones have always worked (my 1994 Nokia did that for sure). A quick search on this hypothesis turned up an XDA thread discussing a modification which could be relevant, if you can turn it round to make it check 8 digits. But even if it works that's something you'll only be able to do with a rooted phone, which may not be what the customer wants.

I don't know whether there's a phone app that applies a different caller id matching - as you know, this isn't going to be a problem many people encounter.
