Hi,

Just happened to find this forum by chance. I am looking to upgrade my phone in the next month or 2, and I was shamefully looking at the iphone 4 , when I happened to be looking round the local o2 shop and seen the htc desire, in the flesh - what a phone. Looking more into android now!!!

Anyone care to offer me more reasons why an android is better than a piece of fruit???

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Asking why an Android phone is better than an iPhone on an Android forum is kind of like asking why Windows is better than Linux on a Microsoft forum. People here chose the technology, like the technology, and support the technology. It's not likely that you'll get unbiased opinions here...

I'm on the same page as Martimus on this one, as an Android Developer/user/enthusiast you may say, I have nothing good to say about apple, and everything good to say about Android.

Pros: (off the top of my head) HUGE user base, and taking over Apples by the day, tons of developers, this epic forum, how fast the phones have the potential to be with the right kernal/ROM (after rooting if you choose to do so), almost litterally hundreds of thousands of applications, more by the second, try and keep an eye on the "recentlly added" list in the android market, its never the same. I could really go on and on, but the biggest is this forum, its incredible, I've yet to meet anyone here I really don't like, with Android being a huge common interest, it becomes a quite friendly environment.

Cons: Don't really have many.. maybe if you have the wrong phone..? I'm not sure, because I really don't have a beef with any phone, including the Droid Eris, which is kind of the runt of the Android Phones, and its still pretty great

To be honest, I wasn't looking for unbiased opinions, but reasons from folk who know what android is all about! I don't know much about 'android', but through friends / media I know more about the iphone!

I like what I see here on the forums, and the amount of knowledge held within these forums is staggering!!! 'When' I finally get my new phone, I hope to be a regular!!!
