Hello all

Wirerat

Lurker
Whats up everyone? I been snooping around this site and finally made an account.

I just purchased my 1st driod (galaxy S3). So i am definatly a n00b. I have setup and even rooted a couple cheap driod tablets before but i dont know crap.

I am warming up to this S3 ( its the wifes). I have not had a lot of time with it but i hear i should root it.

Welcome to the site, and congrats on the SG III and Yes rooting is an option, but I would definitely get acclimated with the phone first, and do much research before getting your feet wet, I will direct you to your device forum for proper tips and all info on the ATR, see below and simply click on the link that pertains to your carrier.

Those links are a great start. Unfortunatly its the wifes GS3, my upgrade is available next week and I am still on the fence but so far I really like the GS3. I only really want to root it to remove the ATT/samsung bloat. I dont mind the stock rom on her device unless there is one out there more polished :D

Welcome Wirerat!

I hear ya man, some of the bloatware on these devices is ridiculous.

ROMing the device is always a good idea usually just to save some battery life, however, the battery life on Jelly Bean ROMs as of late has been viewed as worse compared to the ICS ROMs, kind of convinced it is Google Now, but still the potential is limitless once rooted, feel free to read up more on rooting here:
