Hello and help me LOCK

Rhyalus

Newbie
Hello All,

New Blackberry refugee here... I have really gotten a lot out of reading the forum posts - especially the favorite apps thread.

I am trying to find an app that really LOCKS the phone. I have security set to lock (thus requiring the PIN) after 5 minutes, but sometimes I want it to lock NOW.

Hitting the button at the top just blacks out the screen and prevents touch screen input, but anyone could hit that button again and access my data.

The apps in the market all seem to just do the same thing that the phone button on top does.

I am using the Motorola Droid 2 Global from Verizon.

Thanks!

Settings > Security > Lock phone after...

That should fix it if i recall. The settings aren't set up the same in the ROM I'm using.

For some reason they thought it was smart to set the default to 5 minutes

Thanks for the reply, Lenny.

Unfortunately, I don't want the phone to lock everytime the screen goes off, either.

I want to be able to send the phone into lock mode whenever I want to do it...

This is a great question and something I've been searching for as well. I'm happy with my relatively long lock time; for most cases it's perfect (or too short). There are times when I would like the phone "secured" to some degree instantly at the touch of a button.

Maybe try to use on of those switcher apps that has pattern lock on/off feature.

YOu can put it on your screen and have the lock off by default but when you want to lock it then just click on the appropriate button and the phone will be locked from now on until you turn it off from that widget again.

You could try No Lock

No Lock - Android app on AppBrain

You should be able to set your security lock preference (pin, password, or pattern) and enable it. Then there should be a widget like Szadzik mentioned for No Lock that lets you one-click enable and disable it for the next time your screen times out. It doesn't instantly send it to the security lock screen, but I'm not aware of one that works that way.

If you combined this app with Tasker you could come up with line of code to make tasker turn the screen off when it see's that widget go from a disabled to enabled state. Seems like more work than it's worth when you can just hit the power button after enabling and get the exact same effect though.

That's about all I can think of right now.

switchpro widget is a bunch of widgets, one of them is to not have a lock on your phone...they look nice...i used no lock for awhile, but i would set it to not have a lock screen, and every once in awhile, the lock screen would pop up.
