Help Hello and HELP,

Buttsy01

Lurker
Hello to all, my name is John and I have recently been liberated with the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S3. I say liberated because I have been stuck in an iPhone coma for several years and having bought the SG3S this is now how I feel! Don't get me wrong, I still have a ton of Apple stuff (MacBook Pro, iPad2, Apple TV, iPod 4th Gen, iMac) and I still like it, but wow, have they taken their eye off the 'mobile phone ball'! The Galaxy batters the iPhone on every count, iPhone 5, in real terms, has an extra row of apps, whoopee doo!

Anyways, now I need some help. When messaging from my S3 to some of my contacts (not all), the replies return to my iPad, not my phone! Not positive but I think it might be all those with iPhones, very frustrating. Last night a new message came through from a pal I've not been in contact with for about a year and this went straight through to my iPad. I don't even know the 3G number for my iPad let alone giving it to somebody else!!!

I am sure it's just a setting issue but can anybody help

Thanks all, John :):)

This is very common with iPhone concerts and frustrated the heck out me for some time. Two reasons for this:

1: Your contacts are texting your email address contact as imessage so it goes to your iPad. Make sure to have your friends send a text directly to your phone number and see what happens.

2: If you didn't turn iMessage off before migrating to the Galaxy then your friends with iPhones end up trying to send as am imessage instead of a regular SMS. You'll need to either place your SIM back in your iPhone and turn iMessage off from the settings or you'll need to do the following as posted by another user...

I went to the apple website, logged in with my apple ID, and unregistered my device. I was able to send and receive text messages in all situations except for one:
If I sent a group message to other iphone users who were set up to use iMessage, my message to them would appear in their group thread, and they could see their responses in the group thread, but I personally did not receive any of their responses. Their responses were sent as iMessages and I didn't get them.
Some have said that Handcent and/or Go SMS can bypass this by at least allowing you to receive their responses as MMS messages....but I have not been able to get that to work despite double checking all of the settings.

Good luck, its another thing that drives many people insane that Apple assumes you won't leave their devices so they don't make a solution to this known.
