Help Hello and some help please

Hello from deepest Essex!

Got my Galaxy Ace from vodafone today but cant seem to find Voice Activated Dialling?

Its about the only thing I miss about my blackberry.

Is there an app or option setting for Voice Activated Dialling?

If there are apps then which one?

Thanks in advance,

Andy.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

On most Android clients there is a microphone button on the bottom of the dialpad...

It seems that Blackberry and possibly Nokia are the only phones offering true VAD (voice activated dialling)

There's an app, Vlingo, but you still have to handle the handset and select options to use it which completely misses the whole point of hands free voice activated dialling!!! plus Vlingo uses USA English and stuggles with non USA accents etc In UK English St is often used for saint....St Pauls = Saint Pauls etc however in Vlingo St is only recognised as 'street'. Also Vlingo struggles to recognise phone book contact names...A friend of mine's first name is Clare but Vlingo wont recognise it unless I edit my phone book to spell it as Claire.

If VAD is 100% requirement then Blackberry is your only choice. Supposedly Police forces are 'leaning' on phone makers to remove to VAD as they dont want drivers using phones at all, which I can understand. Howeve as an ex police driver I know I can drive and talk as I did it for 10 years in pursuit situations etc etc
