I was one of those waiting eagerly for the Nexus One for Verizon. When I found out it was no longer coming I immediately ordered the HTC Incredible, and have no regrets. My gf has the Nexus One for at&t, so I'm always comparing. I have to say the better touch screen sensor was well worth my getting the Incredible instead. To me, the shape of the Incredible is easier to hold as a phone. But I'll be jealous when her phone gets the froyo update.
