Hello everyone and HELP!!!

Buttsy01

Lurker
Hello to all, my name is John and I have recently been liberated with the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S3. I say liberated because I have been stuck in an iPhone coma for several years and having bought the SG3S that is how I feel! Don't get me wrong, I still have a ton of Apple stuff (MacBook Pro, iPad2, Apple TV, iPod 4th Gen, iMac) and I still like it, but wow, have they taken their eye off the 'mobile phone ball'! The Galaxy batters the iPhone on every count, iPhone 5, in real terms, has an extra row of apps, whoopee doo!

Anyways, now I need some help. When messaging from my S3 to some of my contacts (not all), the replies return to my iPad, not my phone! Not positive but I think it might be all those with iPhones, very frustrating. Last night a new message came through from a pal I've not been in contact with for about a year and this went straight through to my iPad. I don't even know the 3G number for my iPad let alone giving it to somebody else!!!

I am sure it's just a setting issue but can anybody help:mad:

Thanks all, John :):):)

Aha, think I've found the problem. I have disabled iMessages on my iPad and it seems to have done the trick.

Happy face!

No it's not!!! The plot thickens, now, even after removing the SIM card from my redundant iPhone, the received messages are returning to the iPhone and not my new Galaxy. Very, VERY annoying!!!

Please help!!!

Strange, sounds like some type of forwarding is set up to the address you have iMessage set up with. Are you using the stock SMS app?

Hi John... :ciao:

Welcome to Android Forums. Glad to have ya!

Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to getting stuck in!

Hey, my problem regarding iMessage is getting really weird. I removed the sim from my redundant iPhone and carried out a factory reset and messages from my friends with iPhones STILL came through (but not to the S3!). Imagine if I had sold the iP4 with the new owners free to reply to messages any way they see fit!!!!!

Having trawled the WWW, the problem lies with iMessage and the inherent difficulties of removing this from my life!

I cannot relay the anger I feel right now for Apple, did they think that those buying their phones were never, ever going to change to another brand?

:mad::mad::mad:

Please put me out of my misery:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks.

John.

Hey sdrawkcab25, yes, as far as I'm aware. Just the standard SMS method as supplied with the G3.

As a supply teacher, I receive messages every morning regarding prospective jobs. With this current situation, I cannot be sure if i have been sent jobs or not without referring to the redundant iPhone4. Crazy or what?

Best.

John. :)

To me, it seems as though your friends are sending you messages through iMessenger rather than through SMS. iMessenger is not linked to your phone number, it is controlled through your apple ID.
