Hello from a soon to be former IPhone user.

Greetings from Chicagoland. I found this site due to doing some research on the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. My upgrade day for AT&T in coming up in early November. I've decided to ditch my IPhone 3GS for a S3 or Note 2. The only other Android device I own is a Kindle Fire (1st gen).

I've been in the IT industry for over 15 years doing software/database development and (what is now called) "big data" analytics; primarily using MS products.

The customability and more open environment is what ultimately drove my desire to ditch my iPhone (when the time comes). Hope to be a giver and taker of Android expertise on what seems to be an informative and extensive forum.

You're not alone in your decision to join Android from the iPhone ecosystem. Both platforms are great for what they do... we just prefer Android's customizations and limitless potential. You're in good company: and we have a forum for any device you choose. You may want to visit the S3 and Note forums; it may help you in your decision.

There are a lot of people, more recently in fact, that are making the jump to Android, just because they have had Apple for so long and want a change. So don't worry you are not alone, and we will not put it against you that you were once an Apple user!

Hello there mwrobe1!!
You will for sure find the Android platform more customizable (is that a word?) than the Iphone....I have never used and Iphone but my wife has one and I have played with it.
It's a nice phone, I won't knock it, but I like my Android...maybe I'm biased towards it but being on a forum such as AF with other Android users is great!!
