Also, anyone have suggestions on good phones? Using a Droid X2 that seems buggy and looking at transfering service to MetroPCS to save money. [Paramedic school aint cheap]

If it helps, I have large hands, I play games and watch videos on my device, and I tether to my laptop when I don't have WiFi access to do homework and play pc games on. (Presently default unrooter and use Easy Tether to tether with. Open to rooting too.)
 
If your on Att i suggest sky rocket 2 if verizon galaxy nexus but you need
updates on the nexus you must root and flash roms its made for it really
the boot loader is un lockable and its almost unbrickable if you can use fast boot
commands. choose wisely and good luck
