Hello! I'm new around here

I just start using Dell Streak 5 (2.2.2) and Samsung Galaxy Mini GTS-5570 (2.2.1), but I still have my iPhone 3GS & Blackberry :D

I like to make some little experiments on my devices (upgrading, rooting, installing different apps, etc) Since there are sooo many different types, from many different brands, of Androids device (unlike iPhone & Blackberry), I really hope I can find all the latest update about Android from just this one great forum! :)

Thanks!

So this is my first question:
How can I make GOOGLE EARTH running on my Androids? I know it's free from the Market, but sadly it's not supported in my device region (Indonesia). Then I downloaded the apk file, got it installed, but when I launch it, nothing happen and it just bounce back to the menu screen.
Any advice?

thanks!

(Ok, just read the sticky note; I have to ask questions in Android Phones section. sorry. but still, any simple answer will help, hehe)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. I hope this site will satisfy your android thirst.
Here is an overview of AF and as your read... This is only a meet and greet section and questions should be asked in their appropriate area. I have read about your google map problem but I have no solution. I hope you find an answer

Welcome to Android Forums.

I do not know if Google Earth needs to sync back to the market to run, but if it does, that may account for it closing. Where exactly did you get the .apk file from?

yes, right. probably that's the problem. the market detects the app and prevent it from running if it doesnt meet the right requirement (regions, devices type, etc). I was thinking if we can configure the 'permission' via Root Explorer after installation. but still wondering which file to configure and to what configuration (I'm still a newbie :p ) or another way, using the Terminal command.

I just think it's silly for google to block such a basic free app for their own operating system. it's a big minus when they want to compete iOS. I can easily run the app on my iPhone. I mean it's Google Earth, it should be available for anybody on earth!
I got the apk file by googling, tried several links, but they all failed to launch. one of them: www[dot]mediafire[dot]com/?tjjo2eqtdzz

thanks for the reply tho.

Other than Dell Stage is there any other thing for customizing ... If so how to get that from market ... Kindly suggest any new thing ... I am currently using Dell Streak 5 (2.2.2)
