Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, and Android os. I have been with Blackberry and now upgraded to a Galaxy running Froyo format. I want to upgrade to Gingerbread but my provider is holding me up. So far I am happy and excited to get started.
 
Welcome to the forums!

It is possible to upgrade to Gingerbread without waiting for your carrier to sort it - by rooting (it is worth noting that this voids your warrantee though).

There are so many variants of the Galaxy, I'm not sure which one to link you to... if you go here Android Phones - Android Forums you should be able to find your particular device... there will be lots of people who should be able to give you advice on anything you want to know!
