I am Mario Salazar, my wife says it rhymes with salad bar. I am old and have been around computers since I learned Fortran in college. I am an environmental engineer, combat veteran, pacifist, free thinker, jewelry maker and writer.
I have enjoyed my Droid, and I am in my second one. I am using the Droid Pro and love it. I am interested in a number of things, including programming. I have programmed in Basic, Visual Basic, C, C++ and a lot in VBA.
I will be posting about how to root my Droid to start with.

I have read some about how to root the Android Pro. I downloaded the Z4 application, but I am at a loss on how to install it from my computer. I copied the application to the memory card in the Droid, but can't figure out how to install it in the Droid. When I try to open the applicantion installer it tells me it doesn't have a program associated with it. When I look in the Internet I appear to get free programs that want to monitor my drivers.
Have some knowledge and one computer running Linux, so I understand having rights to the root. Will appreciate any help.
BTW, I looked at Market in the Droid and searched under Z4 and get an application to root, but it appears to be something different from Z4.
