New to this whole Android (Captivate) thing, just jumped ship from an iPhone 3GS. I being a curious person have rooted and flashed my phone to ummm....well yeah thats how much I understand:confused: I am fairly certain it was the gingerR5? Just trying to learn what else I can do and not do with my phone and well learn all the basic things I can do with it first.

P.S. I may not ever go back to an iphone just because of all the crap I could do now I couldn't do then...not to mention there are way more free apps through Android!! WOO HOO for free!!

Welcome to the Android Forums!

I'm going to suggest that you either stay unrooted on the stock images, or rooted on them, just while your learning the phone, getting used to the os. Don't take it personal, as I've been using/developing for android for a while I'm rather familiar with the operating system, but I always recommend stayinjg away from it until you learn your phone, just so you don't. Damage your phone and end up in a pickle that you may not know how to get out of.

If you'd like to learn more about rooting and the OS, check out the all things root forum section!

Ok, I will have to read up on how to restore my phone to original factory condition. So far the only problem I am having (which sounds dumb) is with my calendar not syncing correctly. I have exhausted any ideas I have from trying to resync which keeps kicking me out and force closing..its all part of the learning experience:)

Yep, can't learn without mistakes! I have that problem occasionally, and it doesn't. Make any sense, I just can't figure out what it is, but as a new user, I would really suggest changing the stock images! Have a great day!
