Hello and welcome to the forums... thanks for joining!
This place uis full of useful info on all things Android. You should check out the device sub-forums to get an idea of the flavours of Android available.
My advice is to get as much Android as you can afford, as the higher end devices offer a completely different experience to the lower end devices. Once you've narrowed it down to a couple of handsets/tablets, then get to a shop for some hands on time with the device... one might feel a little too plasticky/bulky when compared to another - ultimately only you can choose what to go for though!
