Hello,
I just got a Samsung Galaxy Q phone off Kijiji, this is my first android phone, however im having a problem. I believe the previous owner deleted the text messaging feature, I believe at the bottom there are supposed to be 4 icons (calls, contacts, menu, and messaging) as you can in the picture I only have 3, I bought the phone to mostly send texts, I have used different apps to send recieve texts to prove that the phone can still do it, however I would like to use the original Samsung app. I have tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest version using Samsung Kies, however it is the latest, I believe if I reinstall the firmware somehow it should fix the problem, I believe I have figured out what app or file is missing, wssomacp.apk. I have tried to install it, (I found it somewhere) however when I do it comes up with the error: Parse Error, There is a problem parsing the package. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Welcome to the forum kamon66, glad to have you here :)

Hmm, sounds like an interesting problem. I am assuming you have gone into Settings > Apps and saw that the messaging app wasn't there, or even in the Application Tray?

If it isn't there your best bet would be to just put a ROM on the phone to get it back, unless of course the device isn't rooted yet, in which case you should, otherwise just use a different messaging app.

I hope this helps!

Thanks again for joining :D

The phone is rooted, however I dont know where to find a rom, and dont know how to install it, (I am sure that I could google how to install it), any suggestions on where to find roms? and does it matter if it is a rom for a different phone like a Galaxy S or does it have to be for the Q? I believe it has to be Froyo. Also how would I go back to the stock Rom after changing the Rom?

If you can find a version of Cyanogen Mod i would suggest that, i live and die by this ROM, if you need any help with it, message me, i have been using this ROM on all my devices for years.

I do not know if they have support for the device but it is worth a shot :)

Hey Kamon welcome to AF! :ciao:
When flashing ROMs make sure it specifically for your device or you can brick just a warning :) to return to stock simply make a backup of stock before you flash a ROM then you can restore whenever you want to go back to stock :)
Enjoy the site :)
