Not sure what to do tried rebooting into recovery. got stuck at huawei screen now stuck at metro pcs screen. Need help advice.

If I go back to stock all my work ruined.

was running stock rooted froyo.

Willing to try anything.

Pulled battery not bricked. rom manager gave me a good scare.

maybe i could unfreeze quickboot and use it to get into recovery?

Well just a suggestion, if you are installing CWR why not just revert to stock and reroot and then install CWR and flash CM7? Its so much better then stock its like night and day. And by the sound of it youre gonna have to revert to stock, Also did you flash the correct recovery img?

never flashed anything. I got out luckilly. but I'm a glutton for punishment stuck at huawei screen again it won't go into recovery from quickboot either.
If I am lucky enough to get it powered up again should I try to boot into the bootloader then recovery. Dude I just wanna back up my stock rom. Wow didn't crash this time either.
Why did rom manager say I installed cwm correctly if it failed? I have over 50 apps installed and it has been working fine. I got link2sd installed yesterday. If you went straight to cm7 you might not underestand that but I was trying to back myself up.

Well I and others always suggest hitting "Flash recovery" 2 or 3 times because alot of times it fails to download the img to flash. So hitting it a couple times makes sure it downloaded and flashed. I went from 2.2 to CM7 and never looked back. Most never go back. Why its getting stuck on the Metro screen I dont know, They very few times Ive used RM when it fail to download and flash it I just pulled the battery and rebooted like normal and then redid the download and flash of the recovery img, Why you are getting stuck Im not sure.

Did you understand what i said? I successfully installed cwm with rom manager.
I had to tap flash cwm a second time. I hit enter recovery mode and now I have an image of my modified stock rom. which is debloated has launcher pro uses gosms.
It has 50 apps installed and link2sd. Now I have a backup of my rom. I might consider going to cm7. However I have heard others had to patch sms. I have heard of wifi stop working. What are the chances of those things happening. also if rom manager screws up the build I'd have to manually flash. How much faster is cm7 and what are the many other advantages? Also how long does it take to install cm7. I would have to reinstall all my apps probably. debating whether it's worth it or not? Can I retrieve licenses for my paid apps ie " Rom Manager,Titanium Backup,Skyfire Netq?

I was on my phone. And by the time I typed that you posted the post above it. ;)

You'll still be able to retrieve the licenses. Because when you flash any build and flash the gapps when your phone reboots its like the first time when you turned your phone on out of the box and you have to enter your gmail account. Which your gmail is what connects the license to your account. And you can just go on the market select "My apps" and redownload everything. OR if you flash the 3.0.2.8 or the new 5.0.2.3 recovery (neither are in RM but I can show you a simple ass way to do it.) those will back up your ext. So say you made a back up with 3.0.2.8 or 5.0.2.3 and then you flashed CM7 after you flash CM7 you can go to "advanced restore" and restore just your ext to the new rom you just flashed which will restore all the apps that were on your ext when you made the back up then you dont have to mess with the market and all the redownnloading.

Oh to flash CM7, Takes minutes. Do it once or twice and you can have your phone set up in 15 minutes. Completely set up and back to normal, meaning apps, numbers, themes, layouts, homescreens settings all of it.

Still debating though. If I don't have many problems with stock os, should I risk flashing? Cause even if it flashes successfully will i have problems with sms or wifi? I know I need a stable build don't want to mess with nightlies. What about if I get a bad flash? I also need to flash gapps correct? Well if I have any time this coming weekend might try. What is latest stable build? where do i get it? I backed up my sdcard partition today and my link2sd partition after I backed up the rom with rm. that is so i can revert back to the same sd card setup and reflash my modified stock if need be. I will most likely have to reformat the sd for the new setup. on stock both partitions were fat32. I accomplished a lot with the stock rom believe it or not. And so far never crashed or bricked anything I couldn't restore.

We dont do nightlies. All the CM7 builds are stable for the Ascend. PG doesnt put anything out thats not stable. Only time you have problems with wifi is if you dont wipe everything (That problem usually happens when you use RM) and as far as sms/mms flash the MetrOff and select "Slipt SMS" in the messaging app you use and youre good to go.The newest build is 0912 and 0913 (0913 overclocks to 710mhz and 0912 to 748) You can either A go to the "Handy download links" post or you can go to PG's wiki:CM7-Ascend - Prepaid Android for downloads if you want to flash it manually which I suggest or they are also in rom manager. Yes you have to flash gapps. They give you the Market and Google talk and other google apps you need to be able to use the market and etc.

Also is the phone ready to run out of the box with my current phone number that's probably the most important question? I assume since cwm is already installed I could just use rom manager to boot into recovery first and then flash? The other option is straight from rom manager correct? I might think about embarking on this depending how busy I am this coming saturday. just backing up my rom and setting up link2sd was enough of a scare to brick my phone for now. I think i can back up angry birds saves with titanium backup? then back up titanium backup folder again? If a flash fails I can just reflash correct? I should wipe the whole sd card? I hope I'm covering all my important questions. Things are supposed to go smooth but sometimes it's never the case.Oh yeah rm installed cwm 3.0.0.5. I believe its's capable of installing cm7? weird addictive tips helped me get over the fear of flashing cwm. if nothing else glad rm put cwm there for me. might only need to use cryptic vol up down if I brick.I keep asking questions popping into my head. in terms of sound with stocks I can use wired earphones for hands free and listen through them. I heard there might be a problem doing that with cm7? With stock blue tooth never worked right, and music wouldn't play through Bluetooth. how about cm7?

long as you partition your sdcard in cwm and download the latest build and gapps and make sure you wipe everything you want have no problems. I advise you to boot into recovery instead of using rom manager and wipe everything.

I think you are the most cautious, over analyzer, question askin person ever on this forum. You ask so much I dont even know where to start. Ahahaha Deep breath

Nothing service wise will change. And yes you can use rom manager to reboot into recovery. Yes you can do it straight from rm. I suggest doing it manually. Its not hard at all. The Ascend is damn near unbrickable. I flashed builds that werent even for the Ascend in attempt to brick it. (Wanted a new phone but needed an excuse so the girl didnt get mad haha) And you can ask Scur he's found it unbrickable. You dont have to back up anything on your sd card unless you partition it for a2sd which youll use a fat32 and an ext. Just copy the files to your computer and then partition with cwr and then move the files back to the sd card. A falsh never fails unless its a bad download or you didnt wipe everything before flashing. Either way you can always reflash. You ddont need to wipe your sd. And yes 3.0.0.5 will flash CM7 onlty recovery that wont flash CM7 is 2.x.x.x because Gingerbread roms use a different script in the rom. So yes 3.0.0.5 will flash CM7.

noticed many ways to start cwm quickboot app, rom manager,
I know a little linux. The terminal adb reboot stock. The cryptic
key combo seems most tedious. I have link2sd installed on my stock.
I have currently have one 28 gig fat32 partition and one 1 gig fat 2 partition for link to sd. only 29 gigs of my 32 gig sd card appear.
I assume I should wipe the card since I already backed it up twice and it was filled with apps linked to my sd, maybe just reformat the big partition fat32 and the small one ext? stock only read fat32 w link to sd that's why it's configured that way. could follow token poke tut from point of cwm. Gonna do this eventually, hope I have a chance over the weekend.

oh yeah another quick question. Is it safe to keep my phone plugged in while flashing? weird thing is the adapter that came with the phone freezes all the functions. The blacberry powercord i usually use with a longer metal connecter allows the phone to work while being plugged in.
