Root help...Cannot get to "recovery"

I can get to HBOOT menu with power and vol+/vol- buttons depressed...I can then scroll to "recovery"....but when I try to select it with power button I get a regular boot....I am just trying to do a cache wipe but with little success...runing the ics update (unrooted) on a razr maxx...any tips would be gretly appreciated!

I believe you select with vol+ at that point, haven't messed with it much though.

Grey is correct. Scroll down till you get where you want to go then press Vol up. This will get you to the recovery screen. If you get stuck after that I believe it is Vol up+dwn together.
