Help! Cannot update apps!

cxxx

Lurker
I am using a LG Optimus 4X HD. Recently, I suddenly am unable to update my apps on Google Play. I get a message "App cannot be updated due to insufficient space." However, I have 1.64GB of free internal memory!

I have tried clearing the cache for Google Play, but it still does not work. Please help!

I'm guessing you have run out of 'RAM' as opposed to internal storage.

There are all sorts of clever - if kinda scary - things you can do with partitioning to fix this, if you root the phone. There are clever folks on here who can tell you all about that - I'm not one of them.

The only alternative is to free up some space.

Go through the apps you have and uninstall things you no longer use.

If you have any bloatware you don't use but can't remove, see if you can at least uninstall the updates.

You could try clearing caches - there are free apps you can use that will do this for you (if you have room to install them :)).

yeah try a reboot.

in my case, the bloatware apps got power hungry with RAM and i was forced to restart for a fix. I find it happens when i have the phone days without a power off.

Thanks for all the inputs. I had tried clearing all my cache using 1-Tap Cleaner. I also rebooted my phone a few times, but still face the same problem.

Here is what is shown in Settings-> Storage:
Total Space: 12.26GB
Apps: 4.09GB
Pictures, Videos: 1.53GB
Audio: 224KB
Downloads: 12.03MB
Misc: 3.98GB
Available: 1.59GB

I am really puzzled, as I still have 1.59 GB of space. I have 136MB of free RAM.
