Help Help! Can't update Android Market Place to Google Play Store after factory reset

Hi,

After having to send my Galaxy S4 off due to the battery overheating/swelling problem (another fun saga of mine...) I have temporarly gone back to my HTC Desire HD.

I have just done a factory settings reset but it hasn
 
I'm not sure what is causing your problem, but on mine, if I just leave it running the Market, after a while it'll update to the Play Store.
I don't see any harm in manually sideloading the apk if it still doesn't work, and I'm hoping that the update to the play store will fix the purchased app problem too.

That's what I do; sometimes when it seems like it's taking forever, I just start downloading a ton of apps, and it seems like it forces it to update the market.

I second the sideloading the .apk if that does not work.
 
I just bought a secondhand HD and it, too, had been factory reset, obviously.
When I first went into Play Store to download apps it said it was still Market Place. But Once I had logged in and downloaded the first app it changed to Play Store
