Lurker
No I'm not a noob I know how to change the names
I have a problem, I copied all my contacts from my old phone onto my Sim
Then I copied them all from the Sim to my phone. The format they came in was "LastName";"FirstLetterFirstName". I changed all of them to the have first names and last names. The problem is that some of my contact keep changing back to the original names that they had.
I have tried delete the contacts and re-add them and they keep changing back
I'm running 2.1.
Can anyone help me

Open Contacts, and click the left button....try and chose option to Update....is that turned on already?

If it is....that is our problem. It is re-syncing over your changes.

Also check out settings for the same thing. Turn Syncing off. It might be syncing from facebook or your google mail account.

The thing is the names of the contact are showing as the original names that were put on the phone.
In facebook and my google account they have first name and last name.
I checked on my google contacts and none of them have that format.
Its just for about 4 or 5 of my contact that they keep changing back to original format even after deleting the contact and recreating a new contact for them it doesnt make sense that It could be syncing from anywhere because that format does not exist anywhere.

Your wording is confusing.

So, when you delete a contact off the phone, the contact reappears from the SIM card automatically?

Again, if you haven't tried....turn off sync/backup for a minute, then delete the contact in your list and make sure it doesn't come back.

Another thing you could try in the contact list is to chose the option for more and goto import....then don't chose SIM card like you did the first time, to restore the old data from the old SIM card, but chose the option to import from the Memory card.....

Maybe the phone is Syncing from the SIM card all the time, and you have to turn it to sync off the memory card to prevent those SIM card contacts from coming back.
