Root **help** custom roms for locked bootloader?

SavageRobot

I have decided I am going to have another crack at rooting my phone, mainly just so I can reverse tether. Anyway, reading through @ElPresidente's http://androidforums.com/xperia-z1-all-things-root/843542-rooting-4-3-4-4-a.html guide and the link on the dev's page for the ROM's flashable zip suggested is dead. So I am looking through XDA trying to find a ROM I can use with my locked bootloader, but doesn't that mean I can't use and AOSP ROM's? Are ROM's in Xperia Z1 Original Android Development - xda-developers safe to use with locked bootloader and ROM's in Xperia Z1 Android Development - xda-developers for unlocked bootloaders?

AOSP ROM's are a no, if you head to the Android Development Section of Xda, anything with [LB/UB] in the title should be ok to go.

I didn't know the link was dead! :( I still have the torrent file it linked to if you want it?

Thanks for the speedy reply. Yes that would be good thanks. I think it is just the first one, to go up to 4.3, 4.4 seems to be OK. Both the ftf and the zip don't seem to be there.

Ok great thanks. Is this the rom you currently use? Really I just want any rom that's fully stable. On another note, will I be able to use the Samsung computer backup/restore app when I'm rooted? Also, last time I rooted (when I first got the phone and it was all simple) one of my apps wouldn't work on a rooted phone, is there a way to make SU hide the fact it's rooted from certain apps?

Jah, this is the ROM I use. It's basically the Sony stock ROM, but with root and the dual recovery installed.

I'm not entirely sure about the backup app though, sorry.

There's an xposed module that hides root from certain apps, although I'm not sure if it works or not.

I could probably give it a go as I think the SkyGo app won't work if you're rooted.

Gimme a couple of minutes.

Ok, sorry for the delay. A certain little lady kicked off last night and I fell asleep after she settled.

Anyhoo, you can apparently go straight from 4.2.2 to 4.4, providing you do a full wipe before hand.

I'll update my thread accordingly. :)
