You are discussing something different here, i.e. how Apple handle encryption for iCloud backups. Apple devices don't have SD cards, so the question you are facing here doesn't arise, and presumably you don't have a cloud backup of your SD content (which would be analogous to what you are comparing to) or else the problem would be soluble.hi, i have same issue my phones mainboard died, does it mean i have to trash card and loss all the data?

And yeah, SD cards are more prone to failure than phone mainboards. And if the phone is lost or stolen you also lose the card. So I never regard data on SD as safe.
