Help! Default Mail widget no more notifications!

I checked all settings and even rebooted the phone but there's no more notifications in the notification bar when I get new emails using the Mail widget.

I can see the emails fine but no notifications at all, no vibrate, no led flash no sound. It used to be working but doesn't seem to be working now.

Anybody know what's wrong?

Also is there anything wrong with this guide from HTC?

I can't seem to continue with the second step... I can't find Settings just grid.
