Help Help. Different Ring tones other than default

I set my default ring tone to Flute. Every now and then I get a call from someone, and the ring tone is completely different. I don't see where to check individual ring tones, or for groups, and have no groups associated.

How do I check/correct/or set these ring tones other than default?

That sometimes occurs when a 3rd party ringtone app is involved and has its own settings, some of which over ride the defaults and some of which may not until the devices has been rebooted.

Sometimes it's a good idea to reboot the device after any settings changes, 3rd part app or not.

Also you can look in your contacts list.

For that contact that has a different ringtone, open the contact, then hit the menu button, choose 'options' and set the correct ringtone accordingly.

I use this method to override my default ring on specific contacts so I know who's calling without having to look at the phone.

I set separate ringtones for K9 mail and Handcent from within those apps. I have always used my phones this way and it's never presented a problem. For some reason, my maxx keeps forgetting these notification settings, and I will get a light and icon in the notification bar, but no sound. Sure enough, when I look at the notification settings in the app, there is no notification sound selected. I have had to reset these a few times over the first few days of owning this phone. Anyone else having this problem?

I was having the same problem. As Frisco mentioned above, sometimes rebooting after settings changes seems to help. My ringtones and notification tones have finally stabilized.

I even tried moving all of my own ringtones from the sd card to the internal storage, but it did not help. Last night, out of the blue, when my husband called, the ringtone was one I've never used. I checked in contacts and the ringer was supposed to be default. Checked settings, sound and the correct ringtone was selected. Maxx apparently just randomly decided to play another ringtone.

Restarted last night after double checking all sound settings. We'll see what happens today.

but i do not see a play option to sample the ring tones....in neither settings or via individual contacts,,,what am i missing?
